Many people have asked me how I came into this world of trading. There is nothing remarkable about me so I thought I would write a short bio on how I arrived at my current profession.
My name is Dave and I'm in my mid 40s. My first attempt at trading came in late December 2004 when I started out with two basic trades. Under 2.5 goals and laying the draw, both in Football. They seemed the easiest start for me because the market moved slowly and predicting the market trend was fairly easy provided you were watching the live action. I then picked up some trends where I could nip in and out of the market to make some profit i.e. injuries, free kicks, the referee lecturing a player etc.
I had grown up in a family that loved horse racing and like a lot of people I used to have the occasional gamble. I realised pretty quickly that you had to be very shrewd to overturn the bookmaker's odds so I was very selective with my bets. I come from an engineering and mathemetics background so I looked for methods that put the odds in my favour as much as possible. Yes I won money but I also lost money and the rollercoaster ride as a far as profits and losses was concerned was very stressful.
I witnessed the volume of money in horse racing and soon deicded it was a market I needed to master if I was to make long term profit. I noticed the volatility of the markets and knew I could make money if I could quickly nip in and out. Everything seemed great but then I lost some money in a trade because of a delay in submitting my trade. I was using the standard Betfair interface and I soon realised it was far too slow if I wanted to take this matter seriously. I therefore started to trawl the Web to try and locate some software aimed at faster submission of trades to Betfair. I found quite a few but most were just gimmicky and only designed to take your money. You would pay for the software but when you needed some help you were on your own. Then I stumbled across Bet Angel Professional and immediately it struck me as being designed with the trader in mind. I sent an email to the company and had a very quick reply giving sensible answers to my questions. I decided to use the Basic version because this allowed "one click" submission of bets. I kept firing the questions to the guys at Bet Angel and they kept giving my the answers. They then suggested I consider the Bet Angel Professional Trial as for £20 I could have 20 days and use all of the money making features. I did just that and quite simply I was a convert. The Basic version is okay for fast submission of trades, much faster than the standard Betfair interface but the Pro version was head and shoulders above anything I had seen.
My trading started to improve and I was making a healthy profit. The guys at Bet Angel were very patient because I was always asking questions about functions and features...if you're reading this guys then I take my hat off to you!
I'm one of those people who always wants to succeed so I really started to push the boundaries to see just what I could achieve. I had noticed patterns in the markets and I knew that if I worked hard I could take advantage of them. The only way to prove it was to put my money into the market. I started out with minimum stakes and tested my theories. I won some and I lost some so I knew I was on the right track. It was a matter of fine tuning my strategies.
I had continued to build up my skills over the years and then I got in touch with Peter Webb. I knew that he was the creator of Bet Angel Professional so who better to ask for advice? Obviously Peter was trading full time so his time was precious. Despite this he was always courteous and sent me a reply. I then decided to take the plunge and move to full time trading. I contacted Peter Webb again and he advised me to attend one of his advanced courses at Betting Exchange Academy. I was intrigued during the course and did everything I could do get involved with the course. Peter Webb knew of my dilemma - do I give up a well paid job to take up trading full-time? Having attended the course I could see that my methods were correct and Peter's wisdom helped me to improve them further. I am now in touch with Peter Webb on a regular basis as we discuss, strategies, upgrades to the software, training etc.
I decided that full time trading was my choice and I have never looked back since. I started to help novice traders in forums on the internet. I wrote articles on market types, entry times to the market, types of trades to try. I also recorded instructional videos showing novices how to scalp the markets, swing-trade the markets and make a book. I know that lots of people benefited from that instruction and I received many emails and messages thanking me.
I have trained people on a one to one basis and most seemed amazed when I showed them a basic strategy that made money for them on almost every trade "I didn't know you could do that!" was the favourite comment.
So that is me - nothing too exciting. Trading isn't exciting but it can be very profitable and very rewarding. Perhaps you would like some personal tuition or would like to fine tune your current methods. It could be that you are a complete novice just looking to get into trading. If you are the latter then our Bet Angel special offer is great value for money. Drop me a line
